2. Your performance in the practical elements; your ability to safely demo kite, board and buggy skills
3. Your performance on the kiting exam paper; you will learn and have access to all the information required to pass the test, so pay attention!
4. Final assessment; an independent examiner will assess your performance as part of a group on a complete run through of the lesson plan in a real life situation

Hi,
I am a teacher working in a Special needs school in Chippenham with kids with behaviour problems. I have been doing some Power kiting with them on and off since last summer and myslef for 18 months. I have a 3m and 5m beamer kites as well as a smaller Peter Lynn 1.9m vibe to suite the kids size and wind conditions. I have been showing them how to safely land and “park” the kite up high to rest up. Most have shown good control through the Power Zone and love it so much they want to buy a kite themselves.
Thing is I need to get a qualification in kiting under my belt in order that the school fund some money to buy some kites as I am presently using my own! Something I’m ok with but not when the school have suggested they will not replace/ refund if they break whilst out with the kids.. a sore point !
Anyway .. I have a “first aider at work” certificate, am able to control kites pretty well … 4 liners to handles though have not used a bar or depower kite. Do you think I would be able to do the course with you in July? I also have a collegue / mate who has the same exprience and qualification as myself who would also be interested in doing the course at the same time. Could you consider if we might be eligible to do a Kite Instructor course with you? If so.. when this would be? Where it would be? What would the dates be? How much in total? and how to book.
Your advice would be most helpful. Thanks.
Hi Steve
Thanks for checking out the site and the course. If you check the post above, you can see the dates and location and skill requirements in brief; the course starts on the 10th July at The Surf Sanctuary in Newquay. Click
on the link for the address.
Give me a call on 07540 155123 or email to book, you can pay by card, or paypal. You’ll need your BKSA personal insurance to participate on the course and you’ll need to bring proof of your First Aid certificate.
Regards to you personal flying skills, you will be OK with the handles part of things but I would urge that you get some experience of a depower kite and using a harness before the course. A couple of afternoons in light winds should sort you out. If that proves to be a problem, you can book in for a lesson with me and for £50 I can run through all of this with you both in a couple of hours.
As for price, again please check the info above as it depends on whether you want to do the full course with wheels or just the powerkite module. Either way, I think this would be a huge benefit to your teaching of the kids at the school, and thusly acquiring some nice new kites!
Please call me on 07540 155 123 for quick answers to questions; if I can’t answer just fire off a text and I’ll call right back.
All the best
Dom
