About Dom

My name is Dom(inic) Moore and I live in Newquay, Cornwall.

I am a kitesurfing, surfing and ocean confidence coach. I run courses throughout the year, and am available for bespoke private lessons for individuals or small groups up to six people.

Here you can read about and see photos of kitesurfing, surfing and outdoors experiences in Cornwall and further afield. I update this blog as often as I can, but since our activities are dependent on the weather and other elements coming together, this can mean I’m putting lots of posts up or none at all.

Some things you can expect to see on here include practical fitness tips, quick spot guides to top kiting locations around the world, accounts of dramatic kiting and surfing adventures from Cornwall and scenic photo stories of great days in the outdoors.

Some kind things that very talented and experienced people have said about me:

“I’ve had the pleasure of riding waves with Dom all over the world, he never fails to entertain both on and off the water. In recent years he has stepped up a gear and is taking big wave riding more seriously. He can hold is breath for longer than it takes to microwave a paela, has paddled into waves bigger than your house and regularly kite surfs at Watergate Bay when the size of the swell would have most sane people headed for the pub. But, one thing Dom loves to do is share that knowledge and help other riders to improve their skills in the water. If you want to learn vital skills from one of the best watermen in the UK, then Dom is your man.” – Rou Chater, Publishing Editor at Next Element (IKSURF Mag and IMBIKE Mag)

“Having worked with Dom on a range of kitesports disciplines, I have found him to be knowledgable, an excellent communicator and a superb waterman accross a number of sports. His teaching is fun, safe and highly informative.” – Andy Gratwick, head of training at the British Kitesports Association and owner of Easyriders Kiteboarding

“I’ve photographed him on many occasions now, Dom has consistently sought out the best equipment he can lay his hands on and then tested it in the most extreme kiting conditions he can find – a good combination for great photos. The fine details (like ringing the photographer when conditions are going Code Red) are not forgotten, and the photos show Dom pushing his own limits as well as those of the equipment.  He also throws a good barbie, apparently.” – Mike Newman, legendary Cornish photographer at Ocean Image.

This photo was taken about 10 miles outside of Thurso, Scotland, That’s a long time to spend in a car when you’ve driven up from Newquay with a wolf in the back.
